5. Cookies, tags and similar technologies
5.1 What runs on this site

New Zealand law does not require a website to obtain consent before setting cookies in the way European law does. The notice shown when you arrive on our site tells you that we use cookies. It does not currently switch our analytics or advertising tags off. Section 5.4 sets out the controls that are available to you.

5.4 How to control cookies and tracking
-
Browser settings. Most browsers let you delete cookies, block them, or block third-party cookies only. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the site working.
-
Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site you visit by installing Google's browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
-
Advertising. See section 6.
-
Global Privacy Control. Where your browser supports it, you can send a browser-level opt-out signal.
-
Ask us. Email enquiries@ezydog.co.nz and we will action any request we are able to.
6. Advertising, retargeting and audience matching
Retargeting. Advertising platforms can recognise your browser or device and show you EzyDog advertising on their own services and on other websites after you have visited ours.
Audience matching. We upload identifiers such as your email address to advertising platforms so they can match you against their own users. Your email address is hashed before it leaves our systems, which means it is converted into a fixed-length code rather than sent as readable text. Matching still identifies you to that platform if you are already one of their users, so we treat this as a disclosure of your personal information to that platform, not as anonymisation.
We use audience matching to show advertising to existing customers, to exclude existing customers from campaigns aimed at finding new customers, and to build audiences of people whose behaviour resembles our customers.
We currently do this with Meta Platforms, for Facebook and Instagram Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences, and with Google, for Google Customer Match.
How to stop it.
-
Email enquiries@ezydog.co.nz and ask to be suppressed from our audience uploads across every platform we use. We will action this and confirm it to you.
-
Use the platforms' own controls, at https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences and https://adssettings.google.com
-
Use browser-level signals such as Global Privacy Control where they are supported.
-
Block or delete advertising cookies through your browser settings.
Opting out of advertising does not mean you stop seeing advertising. It means the advertising you see will be less relevant to you. It is also separate from opting out of our email and SMS marketing, which is covered in section 8.
7. Reviews, photographs and other content you submit
If you submit a product review, a photograph, a video, or other content, that content may be published on our website and may also be used in our marketing.
We may use your review text, your first name, the initial of your surname, your general location if you gave it, your dog's name and breed if you gave them, and any image you submitted, in:
-
Marketing emails and SMS
-
Paid advertising on social media and search platforms
-
Organic social media posts
-
Product pages, landing pages and other content on our site
-
Printed materials, in-store materials, and trade and wholesale materials
We do not publish your full surname, your email address, your postal address or your order details.
Your choices. You can ask us to remove your review, or to stop using your content, at any time by emailing enquiries@ezydog.co.nz We will remove it from our website and stop using it in new marketing within a reasonable period. Marketing that has already been printed, published or distributed cannot always be recalled, and advertising already in circulation may continue to appear until that campaign ends.
8. Email and SMS marketing
We send you marketing by email or SMS only where you have agreed to receive it. Every marketing message identifies EzyDog as the sender and contains a working way to opt out, as required by the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007.
You can stop marketing at any time:
-
Click the unsubscribe link in any marketing email
-
Reply STOP to any marketing SMS, or follow the opt-out instruction in the message
-
Update your preferences in your account
-
Email enquiries@ezydog.co.nz
We will still send you transactional messages after you unsubscribe, such as order confirmations, delivery updates, returns correspondence and customer service replies. These are not marketing.

We do not sell, rent or lease your personal information.
10. Sending information overseas
Most of the providers we use are based outside New Zealand, including in Australia, the United States, Ireland and the Netherlands.
Before we disclose personal information to an overseas provider, we take steps to satisfy ourselves that the provider is required to protect that information with safeguards comparable to those in the Privacy Act 2020. We do this through the data protection terms in our written agreements with them, which set out how they may use the information, require them to keep it secure, and restrict them from disclosing it further.
Where we disclose personal information to an overseas advertising platform as described in section 6, that platform will use the information in accordance with its own privacy policy as well as our agreement with it.
11. Access, correction and your other choices
Access. You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you. Email enquiries@ezydog.co.nz, marked for the attention of the Privacy Officer. We will respond as soon as reasonably practicable, and no later than 20 working days after we receive your request. We may need to confirm your identity first. We do not charge for access requests.
Correction. You can ask us to correct personal information you believe is wrong, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Email enquiries@ezydog.co.nz. If we decide not to make a correction, we will tell you why, and you can ask us to attach a statement of the correction you sought. We will do that.
Marketing. You can withdraw your agreement to marketing at any time. See section 8.
Advertising. You can ask to be suppressed from our audience uploads, and you can use the platform and browser controls described in sections 5.4 and 6.
Deletion. You can ask us to delete personal information we no longer need. We may need to keep some information to meet legal obligations, such as tax records, and we will tell you if that applies.
12. Keeping information safe
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include access controls, encryption in transit, limiting access to staff and providers who need it, and contractual security obligations on our providers.
No system is completely secure. If we have a privacy breach that has caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and the affected individuals as soon as practicable, as required by Part 6 of the Privacy Act 2020.
13. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer first at enquiries@ezydog.co.nz so that we can try to put it right. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to respond within 20 working days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner:

15. Other websites
Our site contains links to websites we do not control, including social media platforms and the websites of our stockists. This policy does not apply to them. Read their own privacy statements before giving them your personal information.
